Airflow November 2007 - Aeropark Update

The Aeropark has been running smoothly over the past year, with Paul Barber putting in a lot of time running the accounts and paying the bills. Although we have been in a drought, we have managed to save all of our trees with people collecting shower water to put them on them.

The new sites at the east end of the park have now been given town planning approval. Building approval has been slow and I have had two meetings with the appropriate council staff to try and push it along. The main issue now is the installation of a unisex disabled bathroom facility which the council have said would have happened over the next 12 months, but the extension to the park has moved it forward as this is a State Government requirement in all states.

At the Aeropark AGM held on 15 September and attended by about 20 members it was approved that the annual facility fee for 2007 -2008 will be $180 due by the end of October 2007 and an additional fee towards the disabled bathroom be charged at $125 also due by the end of October. It is likely that this will not cover the entire cost, and will draw down significantly on the accumulated fund, so once costs are finalised a further contribution may be required. Due to the increase in electrical load on van sites from appliances and air conditioners, the park electrical supply will have to be upgraded in the near future, which was reason for slowly growing the accumulated fund.

We still have a waiting list for rooms so if you do not need your room we would like it to sell to an active flying member of GCV. The new sites have been taken with only two van sites remaining and all cabin sites taken. This is the only land available so once these sites are developed there will be no more.

Best wishes for the flying season,
Ron Grant
