Member Protection Policy
Implementation of the GFA Member Protection Policy
All Gliding Clubs are required to implement the GFA Member Protection Policy by 1st July 2008.
Member protection involves:
- protecting those that are involved in sport activities from harassment, abuse, discrimination and other forms of inappropriate behaviour
- adopting appropriate measures to ensure the right people are involved in an organisation, particularly in relation to those involved with juniors, and
- providing education.
Purpose of this policy
- This Member Protection Policy aims to ensure our core values, good reputation and positive behaviours and attitudes are maintained.
- It assists us in ensuring that every person involved in our sport is treated with respect and dignity, and is safe and protected from abuse.
What GCV Needs to Do to implement the MPP
The GCV Committee have taken the actions below to comply with the Policy's requirements and to implement the policy.
- Identify positions (paid and voluntary) that involve working with people under the age of 18 years. Status - DONE
- Obtain a completed Member Protection Declaration (MPD) (Attachment B2) from all people who are bound by this policy if they occupy or apply for a position that involves working with people under the age of 18 years. Status - WORK IN PROGRESS
- As an employer or volunteer organisation you must ensure all employees or volunteers who are required to get a Working With Children Check do so at the correct time, which is indicated in the phasing plan (by 30 June 2008). Status - WORK IN PROGRESS
- Furthermore, the Club have publicised the Policy by :
- Advising of the Policy & publishing its requirements within AIRFLOW
- Including a 3-page description of the Policy on the GCV Wiki http://www.glidingclub.org.au/wiki/download/GFA_Member_Protection_Policy
