Airflow December 2008 - GCV Wireless Internet

GCV Wireless Internet

by Robert Dorning

Aeropark residents may have noticed that the WiFi Internet signal has been turned back on in recent months after being off during the winter. Wireless Internet has been available in the Clubhouse throughout.

The Club's Office Manager, Rhonda Gelletly, notified the Committee at the end of November that our Internet usage for the month had reached 20GB and our allowance is 25GB per month. She proposed the plan should be increased to 60GB for the next 3 months at a cost increase of $70.00 to $149.95/month. This has been agreed by the Committee.

Aeropark members may recall that the wireless signal was switched off without warning earlier this year. This was a result of the Club receiving a bill for over $3000 from our ISP for huge downloads far in excess of our plan download limits. After the Aeropark signal came back on it was rumoured the Club now has an unlimited download plan. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. The plan is a limited one as reported above.

We appeal to members to be frugal with their useage of the Club's Internet facility. There will be many visitors to the Club during the competitions being held in December and January which will increase the load on the system. The Club's wireless Internet is a great facility. Let's not make the Club Committee think the Internet facility needs any more attention.
