GCV Donation to the Fire Appeal
by John Gwyther for the GCV Committee
On behalf of the members, the GCV committee has donated $500 to the Fire Appeal. One might ask why a sporting club would do such a thing. Isn't it best left to individual members to make this decision using their own money?
Normally, I would say the club should leave it to their members' own decision. However, this disaster is so tragic and unique that we felt that we need to do something to help those who have lost everything, even life itself. If the club should go without some trifle for a short period, then that is nothing in comparison to the need of those affected. So, we hope you support our decision and I hope that each of you will find a way to donate some more yourself. Helping one's mates, even if we don't know them, is the true ethos of Australia. After all, who knows where our own particular dice might fall in the future.
Addendum: The committee has also donated a TIF flight for a raffle. The flight is expected to get good attention.
