Bar security
by Robert Dorning
Following the article in the last issue of Airflow about possible theft from the bar, steps are being taken to increase security and tracking of cash register entries.
In the past it hasn't been possible to know what sales had been made in the bar and therefore how much money should be in the cash register. Now a simple procedure is being implemented to address this issue. We hope all members will adopt and follow this procedure as it will provide a clear picture of bar operations and whether there is a correct amount of cash in the till after a weekend's activities. This will be of benefit to the Club and members alike as it will help raise the return from the bar to proper levels.
As many members have observed, the old keypad graphic on the cash register was too complicated and confusing. Members will be pleased to know that a new, much simplified graphic has been produced with fewer and larger buttons. The keypad is now soooo easy to use. The item buttons were designed by our intrepid Bar Manager Gerry Hogan and the keypad graphic was made by Rhonda. The cash register was programmed by Gerry with help from Mark Goodley.
Now when you make a purchase from the bar it's important that you key-in the items purchased and then hit the total button "TLS". This prints the purchase details on a paper tape, stores the amount in memory and opens the cash drawer. There are brief written instructions on the cash register. If you are unsure, ask another member what to do. If you see a member who seems confused, please offer assistance.
The bar plays an important role in the social side of the Club. If you key-in your purchases into the cash register you will help restore the bar to an important position in the financial side of the Club.
