Airflow July 2009 - Instructors update

Instructors update

by Paul Barber, Chief Flying Instructor

AEI

I am pleased to advise that Jonathon McAliece has recently been awarded his "Air Experience" Instructor rating. Well done Jonathon.

Club gliders

The minimum hours before transitioning into a new type as pilot in command are:

  • Junior - 20 hours
  • Astir - 30 hours
  • LS4 - 35 hours
  • LS7 - 35 hours
  • Mosquito - 50 hours

Before taking any sailplane cross-country a minimum of three landings are required on type.

Towplane

GCV members are reminded that only GFA members, or temporary members, are allowed to fly in a GCV towplane. Should there be an accident involving a non member, the ramifications to the club could be very serious.

Likewise, only GCV members should drive the tractors. No-one should ride on the back of the tractors.

Safe flying.
