GCV Christmas Comp 2009

The aim of the Christmas Comp is have fun and to fly as far as you can over a period of at least two and a half hours. The winner will be the person with the highest handicapped speed. There is no held start, no start point, no minimum distance, no maximum distance, and no entry fee. Each competitor must have a logger acceptable by the Online Contest and be registered with the On Line Contest. On Line Contest Speed Scoring and Handicaps apply.
Each day a winner will be declared, at the end of the comp the person with the highest aggregate score will be declared as the Christmas Comp winner.
Rules for the OLC Sprint task
Task distance
The scoring distance is calculated on OLC-Classic-Rules. Sprint start point and sprint end point are positioned such that the sum of distances between sprint start point and sprint end point becomes as large as possible.
End of sprint may be chosen a maximum of 150 minutes after start of sprint. Sprint start point and sprint end point must each be recorded as GPS fixes on the flight track.
Up to 3 turnpoints can be used as per OLC-Classic-scoring.
Altitude difference
The sprint start point cannot be higher than the sprint end point.
Scoring
The average speed (points) of each individual flight is the sum of the distances from sprint start, around up to three turn points, to the sprint end divided DAeC index increased by 100, multiplied by 200 and divided by 2.5h [Points = km / 2.5 * 200 / (Index+100)].
- Cloud flying is not permitted
- Direction of circling (the same way as the first glider in the thermal)
- Airspace will be checked
