GCV Wins 2015-2016 OLC

Congratulations GCV is a winner –

GCV tops 2016 Australia/Oceania OLC League Competition with one round in hand

The OLC League is an inter-club weekend competition that runs for 19 rounds from mid October to the end of February. With just 18 rounds completed, GCV has a 16 point lead over second place club, Lake Keepit, with only 12 points available for a win, GCV cannot be overtaken. The competition is scored by adding the three fastest handicapped speeds for each club, ranking them in descending order. 12 league points are awarded to the highest scoring club, second place gets 11 points, third 10 and so on. There are no grids, gates, start or finish lines, the scoring program simply selects the best 2½ hour segment from each flight. 52 clubs in Australia and New Zealand took part in the competition with Beverley Soaring Society in WA leading for most of the season. Lake Keepit briefly took the lead for round 16 before being overtaken by GCV the next weekend. GCV had a poor start with several weekends proving to be unsuitable for cross county flying, sixteen pilots made 43 scoring flights to put GCV top of the league. Well done everybody.
