Learn To Soar

ask21-germanFlying gliders is the ultimate flying experience and a sport for all ages. Using only what Mother Nature provides, we soar like eagles to the clouds then glide across the country side swiftly and silently.

It can be enjoyed at all levels: from relaxation on a quiet local flight, to experiencing the thrills of soaring across the countryside, to the excitement of aerobatics, to the regional and international racing competitions, to high altitude wave flying.

You can choose to train via our Going For Solo course or via weekend training. In both cases, experienced instructors use a mixture of theory and practice in modern dual control two-seater aircraft and our simulator. Note that the minimum legal age to fly solo is 15 years old.

Weekend Training

By attending regularly on weekends of your choice, you will be trained as part of the Club’s regular operation. Although it often takes longer than a full-time course, if is often easier to fit in with busy lives and you’ll meet a wide cross-section of other members.

You join the Club as a Flying Member and pay member’s rates for launching and glider hire as you fly. There is no charge for the instructor.

Weekend evenings are normally social evenings in the Clubhouse with year-round bar and in-house meals over the summer season.
