If you do not take advantage of our Flying Start course, here are the approximate costs per flight in a two-seat training glider:

• Launching costs are typically $65-75 per flight.
• You also pay a hire charge for the glider you are flying; this is typically around $60 per hour.
• You don’t pay for the instructors who are all trained and accredited volunteers.
• So, a one hour flight would typically cost around $120.

There are also some annual fixed costs:

• You need to be a member of our club (GCV) which may cost either $595 or $1,190 per year, depending on whether you decide to contribute to club activities as one of our Volunteers or not. The annual membership fees for Juniors and Students under the age of 25 are significantly lower. The membership fee gives you access to all our facilities, including guidance and tuition from our volunteer instructors.
• You also need to be a member of Gliding Australia which costs $420 per year.
